Deblois
Deblois (pronounced by saying all the letters, it rhymes with "choice" or "rolls royce") has played extensively on the East and West Coasts of the States as well as Central America, and the Bahamas. In December of 2006 Deblois performed at the Maui Film Festival in Hawaii, and she is just back from a 3 week tour of Costa Rica. New York, North Carolina, the Bahamas, Atlanta, and California were also destinations on this busy artist's tour schedule. She plays acoustic roots music; soulful original tunes with an eye for the universal and is backed by the wonderfully funky Big House Band.
The Big House Band includes Sam Levine on drums, Nathan (Monkey) Greenberg on bass, and Buffalo Brown on lead guitar. Deblois has been touring the U.S. since April of 2006 in support of her debut release, Leviathan, and has garnered the support of fans and music critics. Her new release "Velveteen" is selling well and its country vibe and worldbeat elements make it a unique and fun "Sunday drive to the beach" favorite.
Deblois spent several years (from 2001 to 2005) in a small Central American town honing her performance and songwriting skills and emerged on the other side of this experience with a whole new outlook; speaking Spanish, driving a motorcycle, fording rivers and captivating audiences with her easy going and very real tunes. Most people notice her voice first, even when she is only speaking you can sense a depth, a magical quality, and when she sings this is all the more apparent. Her songs are like a tackle box and you can choose the hook that fits your life and times. She brings something special to the stage as a singer songwriter, you feel like you might already know her, and you feel as though she definitely already knows you. Deblois plays Taylor guitars and has learned to sprinkle her Folk -Blues tunes with a fair amount of Jazz and World rhythms and chords, which lend her music a sophistication that she endearingly hides behind those all American blue eyes and sweet southern manners.
